Following a massive landslide and rockfall that blocked the 48.9K section of Provincial Highway 7 on the morning of September 7, the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) reopened the temporary bypass with controlled access at noon on Thursday, September 17. Because slope restoration is not yet fully completed, traffic will be managed under monitored two-way control with alternating single-lane passage for safety reasons.

• Vehicle Restrictions: Limited to small vehicles (passenger cars) only.

• Suspension: The passage will be closed during rainfall or if slope conditions become unstable.

Drivers traveling between Taoyuan and Yilan are therefore advised to consider using National Highway No. 5 or Provincial Highway 9 to avoid travel delays. Motorists passing through the area are requested to follow on-site traffic controllers' instructions, refrain from forcing passage or lingering in the section, and follow directions to cross quickly to ensure safety.

The DGH also reminds the public that mountainous slopes remain prone to loose soil and rockfalls recently, making road conditions unpredictable and subject to unscheduled traffic controls for safety.
